Challenged by my grandson to make a lifesize Zombie cake for his birthday turned into a huge, pardon the pun, project. Armed with some pvc pipe, 6 large boxes of rice krispies, a dozen bags of marshmallows the challenge was on! My husband was the technical advisor as the form took shape. The head, chest and arms were formed out of rice krispies, covered with fondant. The lower body and chest was separated and supported by foam boards, allowing the bottom of the Zombie to be the actual cake. Finishing up with tons (well, that is a slight stretch) of fondant, the Zombie came to life. It weighed over 50 lbs., and so the birthday boy had to come to the cake instead of the cake coming to the party.
